This shiur explores the connection between gratitude and teshuvah. The more we recognize and appreciate the goodness that Hashem constantly bestows upon us, the more deeply we feel the relationship and the sense of responsibility that comes with it. This naturally leads us to serve Hashem with greater sincerity and to live up to what our relationship with Him calls for. Gratitude can be a powerful catalyst for teshuvah.

In this third and final shiur of the series, we discussed the ability of a Jew to see beyond the immediate, and how this ability allowed us to survive and thrive in golus. We discussed the inner battle that we all face between the optimism of Shem and Yafes against the cynicism of Cham.

The shiur explored the "משמוש" factor of חשבון נפש, which involves looking for a deeper understanding of our actions. We focused specifically on a “vertical response to a horizontal situation", meaning looking upward and understanding why Hashem sent us a particular interpersonal struggle in Elul.
